'Shop and Save' -Urban, by Angeline Neo.

As all of us know, 23rd May 2008. The start of "The Great Singapore Sale".
Just yesterday, I was looking through the newspaper rack and chanced upon the copy of URBAN. A paper I always enjoy reading. As i briefly browsed through it, I saw the article "Shop and Save". The writer talked about how a smart shopper would know how to choose the right stuff to buy,so that it would last from season to season. Its advice is on how to take advantage of worthy buys at a low and reasonable price and get a good deal out of the sale. Master card, the event's official credit card, which many retailers signed up with, will be offering more perks. Not excluding the tourists, shops offers exclusive privilleges and bargain buys with free gifts even.

Hence, how not to be attracted by the allure of all these perks? Oh well, just go ahead on a shopping spree, but keep in mind, your budget and be wise with your choices.

Personally,I feel that i would heed the advice of the writer because she convinced me and we seem to share the same perspective in regard to this. We all perceive our experiences in life differently from one another.

Some readers may intepret this article in another manner, because our perception is how we make sense of the world around us.

Social factors, such as culture, media and personal preferences play a big role in the formation of our perspectives.

Our decisions tend to be determined by these factors, for example, i bought a pair of boots a few months back because i was amazed by how good it looked on a model in the magazine and also another reason was that, i thought of trying out a new style. Ever since, I have not looked back and regret my choice. Instead, i'm happy and satisfied with my buy.

shopping!!!

i read that urbab article on thursay, and i have to say i agree with the writer too.

but yes, everyones perception differs. you might think doing something in a particluar way is right, but someone might think youre absolutely wrong. i think perception also has to do with how strong you are on your own views. for example, about the boots you bought.

If you really liked the boots and loved it to death, but all your friends told you it was horrendous and looked terrible on you, would you start to doubt yourself and maybe have second thoughts about wearing the boots? or would you be confident enough to tell them, hey, its my boots, bought with my own money, and i think i look great in them. peoples' perceptions have alot to do with how they can handle criticism and the negative opinions of others too.

Times I do wonder if "Great Singapore Sales" is deciving. Instead of getting the cheap products, it might be chance to pick up off-season goods.

but yes, everyone have their own thinking. Is it enough to just wear something nice no matter of season? or would one want to look stylish and in the right flow.

like you, I do buy wrong things too. Many items in my cupboard are for display puropse only, but along the way I learned to shop smart-learn to appreaciate things and learn to know what look best on myself.

That is my best shopping tool, know your style and go "Great Singapore Sales here I come!"

You customise what you get yourself when you shop. So long as you feel good about it when you wear it, i reckon all other comments will fall on deaf ears. *laughs*
btw, it's an irony.. Great Singapore Sale purely encourages people to buy and psycho them that they're getting the best deals. Do you actually save when you buy a huge quantity? doubt so..
well, im not discouraging people from shopping during GSS tho. *laughs* Go ahead, just remember you need to stop buying too much..

i do often wonder if shopping during the GSS season really helps you to save money and get a good deal? I often notice those signboards that says 'Buy 2 get 1 free'. Then it gets me thinking, i only like that 1 tee shirt, so should i buy 2 just to get the 3rd one free?? then if i went ahead to buy 2, it would mean i spent more than what i actually wanted to.
